On the subject of de-worming you might wish to go ahead and do that anyhow. However, you want to ensure that the cat wasn't dewormed by the previous owner first. A good vet check is an excellent idea for your kitten as well. She really should have her first shots and general health checked. In the long term, good early health care can save you a lot of heartache and possible expense down the road.

: I recently bought a 3 month old persian kitten, and she's been having diarrhea. Now, I saw something in her stool this morning that COULD be worms. It was a single white and slender worm-like thing, about the third the length of my little finger.
:
: Could my cat have diarrhea because of a worm infestation? Should I take her to the vet?
:
: The diarrhea could also be from lactose intolerance. Upon questioning my father, it turns out he's been giving the kitten full cream milk the past two days every morning (he had no idea cats could be lactose intolerant).
:
: Please help!
