Can I ask a couple of questions: did anything happen around the time he first started grinding his teeth? eg did he suffer any physical trauma, or emotional - any changes to the family environment, extra stresses? Also: has he been checked for worms? And finally: does he appear to be able to smell and taste food okay? (Just trying to work out a possible homeopathic for him.)
: Can someone help me out? I have a 13-year-old male cat (neutered) who started grinding his teeth about a month ago and stopped eating altogether a couple of weeks ago. He will try to eat and still gets excited by the sound of cans opening, etc. but will only take a few bites and then walks away while grinding his teeth. A couple of different vets have looked at him, done x-rays, run bloodwork and they can find no reason for his lack of appetite - everything's in normal range. He's not vomiting, doesn't have diarrhea, his teeth look like they're in relatively good shape, he's not drinking excessively, his temperature is normal and when they massage his jaw, head and stomach he doesn't react at all. They also say his abdomen is soft and pliable.
: We are in the middle of a 10-day prescription of Prednozone to stimulate appetite and yesterday he did eat three meals out of the bowl with a little encouragement from us. However, he ate minimal from the bowl this morning and tonight we were back to force-feeding through a syringe.
: What's our next step?
