Cat died, but how?

Ok I'll start it off. My cat (who was about 13 human years old) has just died about 30 minutes ago :'(
Anyway I was just wondering what caused this. My cat suddenly stopped eating and drinking properly about a week ago. She went rather skinny and started to lose control of her back legs.
I walked upstairs before to try and give it food, it seemed interested, licked a bit of it and stopped.
Five minutes later I went upstairs and it was meowing loudly, like it was crying, it meowed about 6 times and slowly rested its head on my bed. I knew then it was dead. My cat was one of the only people in my house which listened to me, (I know it sounds weird) and it was always loyal to me.
I was kind of thinking it was a heart attack but maybe it could of been something else?
