It's fairly unusual for a cat to die of a heart attack, but I guess it's a possibility. If she was ailing for a week before, it could have been something like: a tumour or cancer, or a thrombosis (blockage of a blood vessel in the back legs). Or she may have had kidney problems (pretty common in cats) and died from some related complication. I guess you won't know for sure. It is a question we all ask ourselves though - I know from experience.

: Anyway I was just wondering what caused this. My cat suddenly stopped eating and drinking properly about a week ago. She went rather skinny and started to lose control of her back legs.

: Five minutes later I went upstairs and it was meowing loudly, like it was crying, it meowed about 6 times and slowly rested its head on my bed. I knew then it was dead. My cat was one of the only people in my house which listened to me, (I know it sounds weird) and it was always loyal to me.
