Rather than do nothing , hopefully, you picked the fleas off one by one or phoned a vet and asked what he/she would suggest. Fleas can endanger the life of any animal because they suck the blood, causing severe anemia and loss of nutrients. This can kill a young animal quickly.
In the very young, picking off the fleas one by one is the only choice- using a fine- tooth comb . In an older kitten or puppy, brewer's yeast can be used- starting at the head and working back to the tail , watching that a dust is not raised when you do so otherwise it could get into the lungs and, at worst, irritate them. Vacumn often. If you brush the brewer's yeast out of the fur you will take the fleas along with it. Then reapply the brewer's yeast and repeat as needed.
