i've got an itch

i have an inside cat (4years) he is on Frontline Plus as we suspected that he might have fleas about 3 months ago. He is on the regular monthly treatments. But now we have noticed that there is a really large spot on his neck/front side that he has removed the all of his fur and is down to the raw flesh, it appears that at one time it did bleed. It doesn't appear to be infected, and now that we have noticed this we do intend to take him to the vet on Tuesday when they reopen. But I was wondering what should I do in the meantime? I don't think that he has fleas (we are in the middle of a cycle. He is starting to itch another area as well.

I am just really concerned. I don't want it to be contagious to my other dogs. And i want him to stop itching at the wound.
DOES SOMEONE HAVE SOME ADVISE?
