Taming is possible over a longer period of time. Use a cup or mug to pick up the hamster, speak to it, and pet the animal along its flanks while giving it a small treat. As confidence and trust grows (may take many weeks), you may hold it in your hand (wash hands before and after handling) using the cup as a place of security for the both of you, shifting between the cup and your hand.
Do not handle your hamster and then your new friend (in case of scent) without washing your hands. If you find a home for him, use these suggestions and thanks for your kindness regarding the little things on our planet.
