Sluggish hamster

I purchased my hamster about 5 months ago and everything seemed to be well. He would sleep during the day and run in his wheel at night. With in the past 2 months I have noticed that he does not run at all anymore, in fact all activity has stopped. He just sits in the same spot of his cage 24 hours a day. Anyone have any ideas? Sick? Alone? Bored? Please help...
