In Reply to: odd behavior posted by katie on September 12, 2007 at 23:58:51: yes. for hamsters, pouch loading is equal to packing your baggage and moving to a new home. a new cage is usually checked by a hamster quite thoroughly, but, in this instance, the hamster may be looking for an escape route. the good thing is that activity indicates no injury from being stuck, except for the escape behavior---so give the hamster an escape--confine to a room and watched, let him run around (leave a small box in the corner with a small opening for him to settle in for a few hours) maybe this will satisfy the urge to seek a new home.
