resistant post-traumatic otitis media in boxer

Posted by Dmitry (24.1.135.61) on April 20, 2007 at 23:52:33:

Hello. My wife's dog was attacked by somebody. Presumably there was one blow to the head with the stick. Left eye and left ear were involved. After the course of IM ceftriaxone(Rocephin) wound near the eye healed, but vision was not preserved. The main problem is the left ear, since pus alternationg with clear fluid keeps coming out of the canal. It is now almost 2 month since the injury. It looks like the dog doesn't experience pain anymore, since before the antibiotic he could not even move his head.
After the abx dog started to eat as usual and became more active. The dog doesn't seem to have any focal neuro findings.
Any advice about possible organism and antibiotic would be appreciated.
