Neighbors Dogs

Hi,
I was just talking with my neighbors the other day about how I haven't seen the three puppies they had running around anymore, and the said they all died. They told me the puppies started acting sluggish on Wednesday, not eating, not playful, ect, and Thursday they were all sitting around talking outside and the puppies were around and all three of them started bleeding from the mouth and nose and tilting there heads sideways, then friday morning they were all dead. I have no clue what could have caused this but I don't want it to happen to my dogs. Could you tell me what could have killed these puppies? and if I should take mine to the vet?
