feline with bloody stool

Posted by Linda S (70.44.129.161) on July 23, 2007 at 17:34:57:

We got a cat from a local rescue on May 26th after my cat Hercules passed away in March. Mulligan had an upper respiratory infection & worms. Had him checked out at my Vet. He was treated and thought all better. For the past 2 months he has been passing bright red bloody stools about 75 - 80% of the time when he goes. I brought a sample to my vet a month ago and she could not find anything wrong. He is still passing bright red blood, sometimes a bit mucousy. Otherwise he is happy, active and very hungry. Should I worry, as I do have another cat, and two dogs in the house? Thank you. Linda
