torn paw pads

Posted by jason (72.188.161.223) on August 29, 2007 at 20:58:07:

I have a 1.5 year old bull terrier who has been on a raw diet for about a year. Even before that though, she has had a problem with her paw pads where they get calloused then tear leaving fresh skin that hurts to walk on.

I spoke on the phone with a holistic vet in the area and he suggested switching her to a cooked diet. Does this sound diet related in the first place? And if so how can switching her off raw fix the problem?
