Re: Torn ACLPosted by Tess (58.163.152.184) on December 20, 2007 at 18:25:07: Hello - I'd recommend you start with homeopathics - the ones that have worked for me in the past are: Ruta Grav, Rhus Tox, Arnica, Bellis Perennis - add Hypericum if there is a lot of pain. This is most effective made up as a homeo. combination remedy. You can start with 30C, but I've found it works best in high potency - 200C, 1M. Give it every 2-3 hours for the first day, then reduce to 3-4 times a day. Simultaneously, use supplementation to help heal the connective tissue etc. Vitamin C and bioflavonoids (use a buffered, non-acidic variety), also Glucosamine/MSM combos from the health food store. Minerals such as Calcium/Magnesium/potassium are also important for tissue repair. Herbals to keep the circulation flowing (eg Yarrow, also Horsetail and Comfrey)can help. It goes without saying of course :-) that a raw, natural diet is best for any dog! Hope this helps. Alternative/Naturapathic medicine. For this reason a co-worker asked me to research a holistic approach to treatment for her Rotweiller. A visit to the veterinarian confirmed a torn ACL and she is being presured to schedule surgury. Although I believe it is sometimes unavoidable, I support it only as a last resort. I'd appreciate any information available on the treament of this injury. Thanks so much. Follow Ups: |
