Yes, in my experience homeopathics can greatly help both pulmonary edema (fluid on lung) and heart conditions, especially in old dogs! Really, you need to see or contact an animal naturopath or holistic animal healer - just google them on the net. Holistic Animal Medicines is one I know of. Some homeopathic remedies you can get straight away are: Crataegus; strength or potency: 6x if possible, or 6C. Give this 3-4 times daily. That's for the heart; as well, try and get hold of : Apocynum cannabinum, also 6x or 6C. This is for fluid build up on lungs due to congestive heart failure. Give this every hour until you notice an improvement, then gradually reduce to 3-4 times daily. Please dont give up; I've personally seen 'miracles' with homeopathic treatment and canine heart failure.
Best of luck!: Hi, My dog is about 13 years old and during the last winter started coughing a lot. We took him to the vet who said that he has "Dogs' flu" and gave him antibiotics. He also said that it sounds like there is a problem with his heart, but couldn't diagnose it.
:
: The antibiotics helped for a bit, but it has become a chronic cough and the vet now thinks he may have water retention in his lungs as well. The coughs are every 10-15 minutes and repeat themselves at least 10 times (short, breathy coughs).
:
: Any ideas about homeopathic / alternative treatment that could help?

: Thanks, Tlalit.
