Likely, his personality developed along the "stud" lines where he feels he needs to be the herd stallion. I had a gelding in the past that acted very aggresive to geldings and herded the mares relentlessly no matter what we did. He had been gelded as a 4 year old. Unfortunately, we were not able to mitigate this behavior and because of the dangerous aggression toward the other horses, we decided to separate him from them. It is not an ideal situation for him, but to prevent needless injuries we felt it to be in all of the horse's best interests. If you can't do that, than I would suggest finding ways to give him lots of exercise to busy him. Then when he is turned out, he may be less likely to run the others around. Good luck!
