Skin Problem

I have a 27 yr old gelding who has developed what I thought was rain rot. I have been washing it with nolvason and put him on a course of penicillan. However, since it has spread all over and now he is swollen under his chest, on his neck and his glands are swollen. I have disinfected everything and he is out with another mare who has nothing. Any clues?
