Call your vet and have them do a cryptorchid test ASAP. This is a blood test done twice. The first is taken, then a hormone is injected. A second blood test is taken and if the level of testosterone has increased dramatically, it means that there is testicular tissue in the body and perhaps even up in the abdominal cavity. If this is the case, and the blood test is the only way to know for sure, you need to decide if you will pursue full gelding, or sell or put down this horse. The eratic behavior is too dangerous and likely will be the cause of injury for you and others. Training is key, some horses are just poorly trained...(I know as I have a gelding whom I too thought was proud cut, and had the blood tests done, turns out he is not, but has some stallion like behaviors that seem to be adjusting quite quickly with consistent training.) Don't wait until an injury happens...Here in Minnesota at Anoka Equine (the most awesome horse hospital and clinic in the State), the cost of this test is $100.00 (when you trailer them to clinic). If the horse is too dangerous to trailer, get the vet to you ASAP. Don't waste your money on more training tapes, more gimmicky aids etc until you know the results of the test. If he is part stallion, make the safest and most realistic decision for you and your family. Good luck! Vicki
